As Damien Dempsey sings “Patience, give me some of that patience”. If you are thinking of pursuing an SEO campaign, “patience” is a word that you should get used. SEO is a process that does not affect your website overnight. It takes a number of weeks for changes to make a real impact in your search engine rankings. I would be wary of any company that promises you number one results in Google in a day.
To gain a foothold at the top of search engines results your website has to have strong SEO attributes. Implementing these SEO attributes will not get you to the top immediately as SEO is a process that takes time. There are a number of ways that you can help speed the process up in an SEO campaign.
1) Planning. By planning your SEO strategy it will really get the ball rolling once you start the campaign. You can start with some in depth keyword research that you will need to use later in the campaign. This will help inform textual content in the body text, internal links, URLs and headings in your website.
2) Competitor Analysis. Ask yourself, “What are my competitors doing well in and what are they performing poorly in?” This can help identify gaps in your competitor’s web presence where you can outperform them when you launch your concerted SEO campaign.
3) Share. Don’t be greedy! Share your blogs and news with the rest of the Internet community. It is now easier than ever to spread your content around the net through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, and Digg. Sharing your content will attract visitors to your website and more importantly, websites will link to your site for the fresh and interesting content that you are providing.
So, prepare for your SEO campaign with in depth research and engagement with social media. This will lay down the groundwork for your campaign and will hasten the process. And most importantly, be patient when you begin your campaign as patience is an SEO virtue.
