Search Engines Battle for Control of The Market

Bing has been battling hard against Google and Yahoo recently. It has spent millions of dollars on marketing to be competitive against its larger neighbors.  As part of its marketing strategy it has recently launched a new Bing Entertainment section.

With this new feature viewers can now watch full TV shows, listen and buy music and play games all on Bing. "What's very important in all of this, I think, is the increase in real information sitting on/in Bing's search engine – the type of stuff search engines typically just provide links to," wrote Matt McGee of Search Engine Land. "Whether it's full specs for a new car, a company's complete and current balance sheet, or an 8,000+ word article about diabetes, this is new.”

This should be an interesting battle to see if Bing can change the mindset of viewers who are so used to Google. With these new features it might be an added incentive to change search engine but old habits are hard to break. If Bing is to succeed they will need to develop a platform that is that really stands out from the crowd, and so far they haven’t done this.
