We all know by this stage that Content is King. Google eats up content like a Sunday morning fry up and the quality of the content is reflected in the Google SERPs. Google’s latest blog is also giving an indication that the “freshness” of the content is also a search signal.
According to Google, “Google Search uses a freshness algorithm, designed to give you the most up-to-date results,”. What this means for webmasters is that having up to date content on their website is important for getting indexed higher in SERPs. Google recently completed their Caffeine web indexing system and as part of this 35% of search results are now impacted by relevant searched based on the freshness of content.
So how do I create fresh content on my website?
There are many ways that you can create fresh content on your website. I would suggest starting with a blog. A blog can be about your product or service, business area or a personalised record of your business. Blogging can be fun and engaging if you approach it correctly. Blog about things that you enjoy and find interesting. Your passion for your topics will then be reflected in your blogs.
A news section on your website would be a great place to showcase your latest news and industry news. This is good for both adding fresh content but also for visitors to your website who may want to keep in touch with news from your company and industry news.
You can create a forum on your website. This is a great way to get user generated content. A forum can be as simple as a questions and answers area on your website. You may need to do some monitoring of the forum posts but on the plus side you will get lots of juicy content.
Make your website social with Facebook Comments. Google now indexes Facebook comments on websites. This is a fast and easy way to get user generated content on your site. Not only will you get fresh content on your website but you will see increased traffic coming through Facebook. If you want to extend the socialising of your website, you can add community software that will allow the uploading and creating of a mini social network. This can be quite a lot of work but there are some benefits that include fresh content and SEO for your site.
