A browser is an application that people use to browse the Internet and access information. You will probably be most familiar with Internet Explorer as your browser. Internet Explorer is currently the most popular browser used throughout the world. But there are many other browsers available to use.  Some of the browsers include Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari.

Some browsers are more useful than others within certain industries. For example, web developers would prefer using Mozilla Firefox than Internet Explorer. This is due to the functionality having restrictions in some browsers and the availability in plug-ins in others.
